The National – Lasting bonds as matchmaker helps refugees find shelter in Britain

Early this month, The National interviewed host Karina, and her guest Basel, about their experience living together in central London. What started as a six-week placement has turned into two years living together, with Karina joking to her daughters that Basel is her favourite child now, and Basel explaining that he now has ‘two families’. This story, about a Canadian Jew and a Syrian Muslim supporting each other and enriching each other’s lives, perfectly encapsulates the best aspects of what our hosts and guests get from Refugees at Home.
