[Refugees at Home seeks volunteer home visitors]

Refugees at Home, the UK charity which connects those with a spare room to refugees in need of somewhere to stay, is urgently looking for volunteers to undertake home visits in the London area.

Volunteers will need previous experience in undertaking home visits – for example, in social work, nursing or general practice.

Home visitors are an essential part of our work. They ensure that placements are safe and suitable and provide a vital link between hosts and guests. Their work involves conducting an initial assessment of potential hosts, following up on references and checking in with hosts during the early days of a new placement. In total, each home visit takes about 2-3 hours. For now, the home visits are being carried out remotely, although we hope to move back to in-person visits soon.

We currently have a large number of potential hosts willing to provide a room to refugees, and we urgently need assistance in assessing these placements, particularly in the London area.
